This book included two novellas from the Shatter Me series, and they were both from Kenji's point-of-view. Both were very dramatic. My ratings and reviews are below.
Shadow Me | ⭐⭐⭐💫
I liked reading Kenji's point of view but it was very dramatic. A bit like him I suppose. His obsession withNazeera was funny though. Tahereh is good at writing distinct characters.
Reveal Me | ⭐⭐⭐
Kenji was so extra in this novella, and it was a bit embarrassing. His interactions with Nazeera were especially cringe. Yet, I appreciated that he looked out for his whole team and noticed that something was up regarding Adam and James. I was also glad that Ella showed up for him like he would for her.

So cute. So fun. I love Kenji. His character feels so much more deep in this. You can tell he's not being funny/oblivious on purpose and it works for him. The timeline is confusing though.

I know that there are a lot of people who feel a little disappointed, who were happy with the original trilogy and didn't need this story. I, however, enjoy this wild ride and the unexpected twists, turns and surprises waiting around every corner. I was, however, a little afraid that this novella, 5.5, might once again not add that much, but I was happily surprised when I figured out that it started out after the finale of book 5 and really gives us a lot of information on what's waiting for us in the upcoming finale.
I'm also still very impressed by Mafi's wonderful writing style. She's a star when it comes to writing down emotions and the more dramatic a character feels and becomes, the more her writing starts to shine. In this book Kenji FINALLY breaks down completely and although I wouldn't want this to happen to a gem and positive character like Kenji, it was so wonderfully written, almost as if a piece of me was kinda breaking with him too.
And even though there wasn't that much interaction between Juliette and Kenji, I felt that the interaction we saw felt very pure. It's the kinda of friendship we all want to have, we all deserve to have and I'm so glad they have each other and even happier that Mafi manages to write it down in a really convincing way.
This novella really has me hyped for the last book! I can't wait to hold and devour it!
