I’d give it a 5 star had it not been for the explicit descriptions that imo serve no purpose to the story.

I'M SO DONE WITH THIS STEAMING PILE.
I tried. I really did. I made it to disc 32 of 38. But I just couldn't make it.
SPOILERS AHEAD.
This book is nothing other than the wet, skeezy dream of a middle-aged man. SO UNBELIEVABLY GROSS. Every female character was distilled to her body and nothing else. This author is so obsessed with pubic hair, vaginas, unstoppable penises, and BOOBS! Everything remotely round was described as if it may be a boob. Two moons in the sky? BOOBS! The main character's name means green peas. BOOBS! It was crazy.
The descriptions of every female character and her levels of sexiness (and all the sweaty stretching!) was unnecessary. Lazy character development and even worst plot development. What did the year 1984 add to the plot other than an a weak nod to George Orwell and the book's title? NOTHING. NADA. Zip!!!!
And the descriptions of underage girls being used for a ritual that was nothing more than child rape was just unbelievable.
This author is over rated and this book was unnecessary. Ugh.
Suck it, Murakami.

Book was a long and winding road, but in the end, it was just too long for what material was presented.
