I loved the idea of the story and everything, however it was very sexual and I can't recommend it to anyone because it has lots of sexual content and alcohol deals with homosexuality although I like the homosexual best friend in the book though. I'm shocked at the content of this book for you adult....

I was really truly interested in this story. I like Aladdin very much, so I thought it was funny to put a genie in the life of a teenage girl and it could be cute to make him fall for her. But although the story is indeed cute and I'm half in love with Jinn, the characters are quite flat without any depth that could have helped to make them interesting for the reader. They're just typical, even the main characters.

The story is quite lame. It doesn't have intrigue or it has very, very little and it based from start to end only in Viola's wish of belonging and the development of Jinn's feelings for her (and hers for him, too, of course). The final chapters after the third wish is granted are a little bit I-don't-know-how-to-bring-these-two-back-together-and-I-came-with-this-idea. But although this idea is nice and pretty and brings you to a happy ending, it doesn't make any sense and doesn't help to imagine their future together, if they have any beyond the eighteen-month punishment. Or does it make sense and I missed it? I liked though the descriptions of the smells and of the paintings, but it was quite repetitive and tedious sometimes.

The only thing I think the book is worth reading is Jinn. It is a fantastic character, lovable and charming; it's quite good described (although I cannot picture him) and I liked very much the narration when he's all confused and disoriented about what is happening to him and how he's feeling.

"how important it is to be careful what you wish for" -> I didn't find this lecture anywhere in the book. Viola only wishes once for herself and just because she was drunk... Where is the lecture here? fO.o

The truth is: this book would make a nice and interesting teen movie *___*

3 stars (4 only for Jinn) because of the lame storyline

A sweet and heartwarming novel that will wrap around you like a soft blanket.
Honestly, that's the best way to describe how I felt while reading.
Pearce's writing is crisp and simple, but her characters display surprising depth. There are no villains in this story; every being, human or otherwise, slowly peels back their layers to reveal the complexities underneath. Viola and Jinn are beautifully flawed. They grow and learn as the pages go by, and their love develops so naturally, each one saving the other in the most subtle and meaningful ways. There are enlightening moments on how it feels to be broken and what it means to belong.
The perfect stand-alone novel for rainy days when you just need a little magic.

As You Wish By: Jackson Pearce
Rating: 4/5 Stars --- A good read.

My Review: Very good tale. I love this book, as there was not as much love as magic (People who know me know I think books get too <3 and less *Magic!* Anyway. I am a little confused on Viola. She seemed to act a little...mature for her age, but I guess that's okay. I really like the writing style, and how the reader was also shown Jinn's P.O.V! Okay, now cutting to one of my favorite parts. The cover. I love the font of 'Wish' and the girl's face. It perfectly related to this story, and it was actually what made me try this book out! I hear there is a small short story sequal, which I may try, I would love a whole second book, but I don't know if this is too much to ask for. :\ Well, anyway I love this book. And it is something I would recommend. I bet your wishing I end this. XD So as Jinn always says, "As you wish."

Clearing out the Goodreads backlog - this was cute!

Well... silahkan putuskan sendiri...

Hhhmmm....

Jackson Pearce created a wonderful world here. It's in present tense and written so wonderfully that I didn't notice until chapter two and I probably only noticed then because the narrator changed and it caught me off guard. Once my initial confusion was over I quickly became submerged in the story and found myself drowning in it's depths. It was the only romance story I've ever called beautiful instead of cheesy (despite the slightly cheesy ending). Everything worked wonderfully and I believed the characters all the way. I used to be one of the Invisible Girls. I know that longing to belong all too well. And how passionate she is, all the leads actually. It was phenomonal. Absolutely wonderful, from style to plot to characters. I loved it. And to top it all, it's such an easy, fluid read that I finished the book in one day (a school day at that). Go out and get this book!

Predictable and unimaginative is what I remember most of this read. Unfortunately even the writing didn't captivate me, as it was at best bland.
