A sapphic fantasy (with a romance) novella set in Chicago in 1941. Angels and demons. Warlocks and humans. Conversion therapy. Misogyny. Good people making ultimate sacrifices. A brother’s understanding. Seriously masterful take on personal faith. Saving a love for as long as possible because it’s worth all the risks.

Whew I have goosebumps! Can’t recommend this enough!

This book was one that checked off all of the boxes for a book I'd enjoy. Intriguing religious/mythological based magic, love with a time limit, and a badass main character who's going against bigotry and the societal standards of their time period/world to do what they have to. The setting, the tone, and the descriptions of places or the magic or photography were so interesting and fleshed out. I picked this book up for the lesbian relationship, and despite how intense the plot got, it was so sweet and caring.

A short little lesbian supernatural noir book I finished in a single sitting, Even Though I Knew the End managed to fit a lot of story into less than 150 pages. Set in 1941 Chicago, a mystic detective ends up being hired for a murder case that ends up being a lot more than a murder case. I'm not normally a noir person, but I found this perfectly enjoyable. Well-paced and well-written, I would recommend this to anyone who finds the premise interesting.

An enjoyable, if occasionally predictable, story. The world created was very immersive and the magic system was explained well so it never felt like having to learn complex rules. At points plot felt a bit too reliant on twist reveals that were sometimes predictable, but it was still entertaining. The worldbuilding was probably my favourite element of the book, with the relationship between Elena and Edith a close second. They were both very well-written and believe-able and their relationship was very easy to root for. Definitely recommend to anyone looking for books with good wlw representation, especially if you're interested in lgbt historical fiction.

For those looking for a quick sapphic tale of angels, demons, and the things we'd do for love.
