I adored this little lesbian story sm ugh. The lore was SO interesting, and I loved how it combined all kinds of magical/biblical elements. Angels and demons, witches and warlocks. So fucking cool. Helen and Edith are EVERYTHING, and my only gripe is that this wasn’t longer. I’d read every minute of their life together.

Even Though I Knew the End was an atmospheric and fantastical take on crime noir. I had just finished Lavender House by Lev AC Rosen and was dying for some more mid-century, queer mystery, and this book really hit the spot. It's short, which can sometimes be a hurdle as far as pacing and characterization goes, but Polk handled it wonderfully.

Thank you so much to Tor and Netgalley for the free e-ARC in exchange for a fair review.

This book was simply incredible at every turn. I absolutely loved every part of it. I think best to go in with relatively little knowledge, but if you like magical realism and emotionally powerful storytelling, you will love it.
