Simple statements about different parts of the body - hands, feet, head, nose, eyes, ears, knees, neck, cheeks, teeth, and skin. A loved seeing a diverse gathering of children.

2017 storytime theme: head to toes

I think I'm too young for this book. All I've ever been able to think about it is "why is the Inuit kid wearing native costume?" It somehow links up in my mind (although this is not at all fair to the book) with a song the (very old-fashioned) Sunday school superintendant we had when I was about 18 (teaching, not being taught, Sunday School--hey, I'm a preacher's kid) was in love with, which had a line about God loving all little children, whether black, white, yellow or red.

OK for body parts storytime. It was written in 1985 and the pictures are not cute-retro but instead just ugly 80s. But the pictures are big and colorful and there is a diverse cast of characters. Finally, it is a rhyming text and the words are a bit bizarre, for example when they talk about ears it says "Here are my ears for washing and drying" which is strange to say the least. I mean, is that really what ears are for?
