Yes! We are on our way to resolving all that pain!! Seeing the friend's different perspectives was incredible and also eye-opening. I wasn't considering Naoka as a part of the friends group because she created a lot of conflict within the group, not to mention that she was horrid to Shoko :(, but I see her value in the next book. I guess she adds an honest (?), if not jaded view of friendship, aspect to the friends, even if she does it in a problematic way. Still want to stab her, though... Every cruel action towards Shoko feels inexcusable *ahem* OUTSIDE THE FUCKING HOSPITAL SCENE *cough* (because honestly what was that shit...
But overall, all the perspectives were important especially Miki's. I found it interesting how Miki tired to distance herself from her own bullying and her denial throughout the series. I think Miki realizes this when she hugs Shoko, but in a self-centered way that made it seem to me that she just wanted to be relieved her own pain, instead of fully regretting her actions and words towards Shoko (and even Shouya) when they were children. Naoka is much more self aware in comparison.

Nope, it definitely got more heart-wrenching. That took a twist that I never would have expected. I definitely think Shoya has changed, he still feels so guilty for everything he did to Shoko in the past. He feels like nothing he can do will ever make up for it but he just wants to be around her and protect her for everyone else who still makes fun of her. This volume made me absolutely hate Naoka, she is so selfish and doesn't care about anyone else's feelings. The next volume is the last one and I don't know if I'm ready for that yet.

Honestly slightly lost right now but very emotional.
I love the movie version of this so much, it’s one of my favourite movies ever but man I had no idea how much I was missing without the manga. The chapters from each of their perspectives were so enlightening. I can’t believe Miki still thinks the way she does but I guess some people are just dickheads
