Always find these books a joy to read, the right balance between mystery and light-hearted fun.

I did not like Agatha Raisin. Even if I can't relate, she should at least be somewhat endearing. She was just a crotchety almost old lady who bumbled her way through solving a mystery. I could tell where the author was trying to be funny. I do not like being able to identify the author's devices in a story. It's kind of like watching an actor stare into a bright light in order to produce tears. Just not very believable. It was interesting enough to finish but I won't be reading others in the series.

First time there was a continuity error in this series! Looking forward to Agatha being a genuine detective with her own agency in the next one!

Not going to lie, there are some continuity errors here but it is still a good read! Aggie is still delulu and petty and isn't that what truly matters?

Meh. I was looking for a quick audio book for a trip and this was available. I like the Agatha Raisin television show so I thought I'd try a book. For me, the primary redeeming factor was that since I'd watched the show I could picture Agatha in my mind and she was funny and somewhat endearing. Had I not seen the show I would have simply found her annoying. I probably will stick with the the on screen Agatha.

While the storyline advanced Agatha's character arc a bit more, there seemed to be an awful lot of repetition in this one. Agatha repeatedly changing clothes and reapplying makeup (and damaging her hair, which was never readdressed) in order to get her new neighbor's attention got old in a hurry.

And Peter Frampton. You're going to have a character named Peter Frampton and not even make a single, "No relation!" reference? Of course, if you're under 30, it probably wouldn't matter, but this is the old fart's version of unironically naming a character Ariana Grande and never having her be aware of her musical counterpart.

Excited to see where Agatha goes from here, but wasn't the biggest fan of this installment.

3 out of 5 stars.
