It's not Tove at her striking best but I indulged in this collection of short stories with glee anyway. It's the twelfth book by Jansson I've read which just goes to show how much I love her.

Tove Jansson’s writing always makes me smell the sea air, feel coarse sand under my feet and feel at peace. So did this book, filled with little stories and moments of insignificance, and yet full of life and meaning.
(Side note: I found it interesting and amusing that the translator had kept the Swedish place names in Finland, such as Helsingfors for Helsinki.)

Ihanaa ihanaa Janssonia jälleen!
Hieman jäin kaipaamaan novelleilta yhteneväisyyttä ja muutama novelli ei ollut Janssonia parhaimmillaan. Huomasi, että tämä on Janssonilta viimeisimpinä julkaistuja teoksia, sillä sen verran vanhuus ja kuolema olivat aiheina.

Mukavia novelleja, joista jäi jotenkin haikea tunnelma, ihmisen yksinäisyys ja toisen kaipuu olivat käsinkosketeltavasti läsnä useimmissa tarinoissa. Jäi myös tunne, että novelleissa on paljon Janssonia itseään.
