I'm conflicted.
This is a good book but also a very heart-breaking one.

I really liked Remind Me How This Ends, and the premise of the story. It wasn't just a cliche romance novel with a happily ever after ending, and it allowed you to see that it's okay to just not know what to do next. I loved the two main characters, Milo and Layla - their connection, backstories and little inside jokes made me fall in love with their characters. I also loved the setting of the book; a small town in the middle of nowhere Australia. Maybe I'm a bit biased, but it just had such a nice, nostalgic kind of feel to it. Overall, I really enjoyed this book, and would definitely recommend.

An easy to read Aussie YA. I enjoyed this one, just lacked a bit of punch.

Trigger warnings: car accident, animal death, grief, alcohol abuse, death of a parent (in the past)

This honestly felt like a mediocre version of Words in Deep Blue set in a country town and in which I didn't care about the characters... *shrug*

I wanted to like it, really I did. I've heard nothing but amazing things about Gabrielle Tozer and her writing. But this just...didn't really work for me. I didn't especially care about Layla or Milo. The secondary characters were predominantly dickheads. And the ending felt very abrupt. So all in all, this was meh for me.

The book wasn’t boring but lacked connection. I enjoyed the plot but something was missing

This was just the exact story I needed to read right now. I knew I loved it back in 2017 when I was still a teenager, and I love it still in my twenties. Remind Me How This Ends is a sweet romance novel that is completely relatable if you ever had a childhood or high school love. It’s flirty, a little steamy in places, and just a beautifully written story. Told from the perspectives of our two main characters, Milo and Layla (and set in Aus, even better), they reconnect after 5 years apart, when Layla left town after her mum died. Being with Milo is like being with her mum again, and as Layla learns to finally deal with her grief in a healthy way, Milo has troubles of his own to figure out, like what the heck he’s doing with his life. Filled with love twists, family woes, first loves and first losses, this book is one of my favourite YA novels - I highly suggest you get your hands onto it and experience Gabrielle Tozer’s beautiful writing for yourself.

I was so hooked at the beginning between the relationship of Milo & Layla. However I just feel like the ending was just bland? Like Milo had such strong feelings for her and they left it at that. I don’t know it seems okay but it felt like something was missing to conclude that story.

AHHH it was so nice to have another Gabby Tozer book to sink my teeth into. It's got everything: romance, kangaroos, road trips, not knowing what you're going to do with your life, childhood best friends, a bit of tragedy...

Longer review to come :)
