This started out promising...but I lost interest in the characters pretty quickly. I finished just to see how it turned out, but was mainly just annoyed with the behavior of most of the characters.

Cute book, very well written and developed characters. good "beach read"

Started out really slow. A very detailed writer, and this story had many ups and downs for the characters. Overall a good story. I liked others by this author better, but an interesting tale none the less.

Lorna Landvik does it again! She creates such vivid full characters, even the minor ones! Tall Pine, Minnesota sure has it's share of ups and downs! I loved how real the characters' responses were, especially Fenny's. Miss Penk and Frau Katte were a hoot, as were Pete and Mary Gore. It's amazing how people, totally unrelated, can come together and create a tight knit family. I'd like to spend some time in the Cup O'Delight Cafe!

Starts out a little boring, but the characters are so fun and entertaining that they really carry the book. The storyline picks up a lot in the middle, and has a satisfactory ending.

One of my favorite Landvik books...love her character development. You feel like you know them well by the end of the book. Always something to make me laugh, smile, cry and ponder.

Lorna Landvik is my book candy, and this book strikes me as her fluffiest. That said, it's still an enjoyable read, and takes me back to the ol' Midwest.

Loved this one - the story, the characters, the writing.

I'm sad I didn't like it more, but it was just way too complex to convey an overly-simple theme. The characters and setting were just too "cute", too -- not substantial. :(

This was almost as much fun as the Bonbons book. However, I felt that to get better character definition, there could have been several books...and perhaps less cliche. (That last bit is a tempered remark because I can' t tell if the author was trying for trite or if that was the unintended result.) A nice palate cleanser for a more weighty novel.
