You need to read this book, trust me.

This book was full of adventure, relationship development, exciting world building, and just everything you need to have a darn good time. I started this book as I came off my ACOTAR high and it DID NOT disappoint. It’s got a little spice in all the right places, but nothing too much to distract from the plot by any means, it fit very naturally into the progression of the two main characters’ relationship. The Bridge Kingdom has a strong backbone all the way through and I couldn’t help but feel swept away by its tropical and pirate-y vibes as you follow a badass FMC who isn’t just the girl with a sharp attitude that we read all too often, but a highly trained assassin that battles with her own internal dialogue as her humanity starts to break through the walls she worked so hard to build. This book introduces palatable political drama, gripping battles, and adventure vibes.

The Bridge Kingdom made me a fan of Danielle Jensen’s work and I can’t wait to read more of her stories!

There are a lot of snakes, so be ready.

I am so easily influenced 😭😭😭 one of my favorite book girlies was so into this so I immediately ordered the whole set despite the covers looking ass.
But she failed me!!!!! This is for the SJM readers!!! The writing is so juvenile 😩 also this is the smut that gets y’all hot and bothered???? Bye ✋ I am begging booktok to go through a fanfiction phase bc I cannot keep doing these vanilla, trope laden books that get praised to high heaven. I have nothing against obvious plots but if the whole journey through the narrative is equivalent to and eye roll I am not enjoying my time with the book 😐
If I start one more romantisy book that has a badass assassin girl that trained her whole life and is so smart and badass but CANNOT for the life of her connect the simplest of dots and is so incredibly tiny and delicate and needs her ethnically ambiguous Boytoy to do everything for her  I will set something on fire 🤪 also why is the girl from the dessert country the blond, pale one in this couple. Why is everyone afraid of a blond male love interest? They should have swapped their appearances 😤
I’m also begging authors who wanna have their whole plot surround a political intrigue to like…actually think about what they’re writing. Babes if one Kingdom has nothing to give and they don’t want peace or even a treaty, why make one of them the rich, influential trading country’s queen? A Queen from the impoverished, desert country /an ocean away/??? Just make her a war hostage or concubine; smthg with no actual power ffs. Also mfk she had the dude eating out of her hand; if she wanted to improve her country’s situation maybe don’t betray the king and use your damn position as queen. Like wtf was the point? The dude’s country is still like sm stronger than your malnourished soldiers from your country, like you are NOT taking it over! it stays geographically a „bridge kingdom“ and yours a desert country! But no, every plot point needed to be weirdly edgy and nonsensical. It was like the author just tried to make a simple set up needlessly complicated to make it seem more mature. Like let’s just add some convoluted stuff so the reader doesn’t notice.
Same with the whole plot of Lara‘s home country. You can’t make her rebellious/„smarter“/have her condemn what her father and country does and still have her be so indoctrinated that she is loyal to her dick of a father who she has no relationship with; she was basically tortured and isolated her whole life. Istg this is the „Naruto problem“ all over again where against all logic he was still super into saving his village and being loyal🙄

Guys I’m sorry if y’all enjoyed this but this was infuriating, datebayo 🗣️
