cpachet's review against another edition
I got The Housekeeper audio book from my library and within a few minutes, couldn’t stand it. One, the narrator was way too old to be playing the first-person main character (a 24 year old woman played by I would guess a 60 year old). It really took me out of the story. Two, the blatant fatphobia was so upsetting. The main character repeatedly connected being fat to being lazy. She was characterized as fat, lazy, a compulsive liar and thief and the author focused hard on those traits. It was so weird.
Graphic: Fatphobia
