I've bumped this one up to 5* on this years re-read.

I think this one is hitting harder because of COVID, and the general political unrest. Definitely a favourite now.

Enoughs Enough.

I think I love the short stories more than the books at this point. They are always so clever and funny and often inspirational without all the tragedy of the books.

An historical aside about the battle at Battersea Barricades. Gives a bit of background on the civil war (in some future time of England) and several women of St Mary's who helped win the battle.

It's the time of the civil uprisings, and two young women have set out to make a difference. The only problem is that they don't know where they are going, or what to do when they get there.

I don't normally review the shorts that I read but this one was a bit different and I'm having a slow reading month so figured I'd review this one. I have to say, as a long time fan of the St Mary's series this one isn't my favourite. It's written in a different way to the rest of the series - we spend the book listening to Mrs Mack and Mrs Shaw recount their experience of the uprisings, rather than seeing the usual St Mary's crew travel back in time. Most of the characters we're used to play very minor parts in this so be warned if you are a fan of the series.

It does give things a more somber edge, which is probably necessary for a topic like this, especially given the way things are in the world at the moment. I like my fiction to be an escape from real life though not a reminder!

I really enjoyed being back in st Mary’s but this story wasn’t my favourite. Obviously I love the writing and the characters to have come this far but I don’t know this was just a bit meh for me
