A quick fun read. Piyali was a smart, competent heroine which is always a plus. Not the best of this author's work but I suspect that may be due to the short length as I would have more time spent with all the characters, their backstory and building their relationship.

I’m a huge Anne Renwick fan, but I felt the pacing was a little off with this one. The story was great, but I felt like it was a little rushed and would have benefited from being a full length novel rather than a novella. The wrap up to the mystery just seemed a little sudden. I really enjoyed the characters and the mystery was intriguing though. You can’t beat Anne Renwick for STEM women in Steampunk.

Short and interesting, I liked it very much, can’t wait for the next one.

I love a good mystery and when that mystery is set in a Steampunk setting, it's even better! Piyali is a doctor who has been tasked with treating strange illnesses. When a Welsh girl reports a blue frog bite Piyali comes face to face with her old flame and pharmacist, Evan. Together, they must discover a cure and confront their past. The only thing I didn't enjoy about this story was the sensual scenes which felt a little awkward. I do admit that I'm a fade to black sort of reader. Otherwise, this was an entertaining novel with imaginative word-building and likeable characters.

I’m surprised by many of the other reviews here. I was really disappointed in this book because I liked the premise. But there is no real conflict, the characters are flat and one dimensional and the writing is extremely poor. The cover is great though!
