Like watching a train wreck.
The chacracters are horrible--just awful--makes ya wanna throw up--but much like a train wreck it's hard to look away. For some reason I couldn't put this one down.

I'm gonna file this one under "wtf did I just read?!" Good writing cannot save this weird, weird book
I loved the fact that the heroine wasn't your typical heroine. Well....loved is a strong word. I cringed a few times (a lot) when it came to Beatrice's methods, but all in all I loved the book! It surprised me that I finished it, but the story got so strong and you do feel sorry for Beatrice and you do understand her. I can't wait to read the second installment!
Another one of Gregory's best, albeit in a different timeline than her Boleyn books. Rarely do I get so engrossed in a book that features such a morally corrupt main character. Truly, you can't help but hate, and yet love and root for, Beatrice Lacey.
