the arm cutting confused me. i totally understood the premise and her ex boyfriend can kick rocks fr just the worst. i just didnt understand the logistics of it and i thought it could have been written better. good story otherwise
adventurous challenging funny hopeful lighthearted relaxing medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Yes
Diverse cast of characters: Complicated
Flaws of characters a main focus: Complicated

This book is so cute . I love how both the mcs are mutually kinda fall for each other ( in a way) its a fake dating romance which is hockey ( i have not read enough of those recently .) I absolutely love Drake and Evangeline - I adore the name Evangeline it reminds me of Evangeline from Once upon a broken heart series . this is my second Anastajia white book - I previously read hale and absolutely loved it . Drake is a golden boy nhl player and Eva is the daughter of a Ex Nfl player . These two characters are neighbours.

This book is 100% a he falls firsT book. The mmc at the end of chapter 16 says “i want to call her mine” in his head aaah. I adore it when the mmc falls first. I will forgive his name being Drake because he is an absolute sweetheart of a man. this man literally falls first and omg .

THE SPICE IN THIS BOOK IS SUPER HOT YET SOMEHOW EMOTIONAL TOO I LOVE IT .

I like that this book doesn’t have a 3rd act breakup

I love how these two are fake dating but also like also getting to know each other by watching one tree hill ( something they both bond over) I really love when it’s a fake dating but one / both of them are into each other / into the other one . Like this one Drake was down-bad / so whipped from the moment she asked him to fake date him. THIS MAN KNOWS HOW TO REASSURE HER AND I LOVE THAT. he is definitely a soft spoken kind of man with a heart of gold . why is it always the fictional hockey players that are such sweethearts

this book deals with Angie( the fmc) struggling with her self love and thinking she isn’t good enough for drake ( because of all the emotional baggage she has ) but like I love the way it’s dealt with in this book

There is no real miscommunication between the mcs and the third act conflict didn’t result in a breakup because like they weren’t immature

some of my fave quotes :
“ THERES NOTHING to stop because I wasn’t pretending . What we have is real “

“ Every version of you is perfect for me . Sad. . angry , Happy . excited or moody I want them all “

“ whos my good girl ? “ “ you’re my good girl “

One of my favorite reads to date. It’s sweet, wholesome, spicy, and everything you need in a feel good romance. Angie is really a character a lot of people can relate to with her need to be a perfectionist and make everyone happy. I’ve been obsessed with Drake since reading Sin Bin, wanting him to get his own story. So when I realized this was a series I was more than ready to dive into Barn Burner.

Evangelina Jones lives in Santa Clara, California to escape the attention that comes with being the daughter of a former NFL player. When her toxic ex, Asher, won’t leave her alone, she recruits new neighbor, the NHL’s golden boy Drake Benson, to be her fake boyfriend. However, while their relationship may be fake, there are lines that have been blurred for a while.

TW: anxiety, mentions of emotional manipulation and cheating

I wasn’t even that into the first book, Sin-Bin, and I wasn’t a huge fan of Drake in that one either. After reading this, Drake Benson has landed my list of top 5 book boyfriends. Getting his perspectives never failed to make me melt.

“I’m going to kiss you right now…and as for them, let them watch.”

Angie & Drake were really fun, they have a rough start but the more they get to know each other the more they started to have feelings.
emotional hopeful

I struggled to connect with the characters. It just fell flat. No strong feelings about this book for me.

I didn’t DNF, because I really hoped it would improve, but nope. I wasted my time 🫣
