10/10. Really great book from a really great series with really great themes. I loved this book and so did my 5th-grade students. I really hope there are more books to come from this series or world.

This series is truly lovely. It’s wonderful to see characters who go against gender norms and who are supported by their families and friends. There are some distant relatives who bully Aster, but his immediate family has his back and his confidence and strong sense of identity helps him stay strong. I know there are lots of children who need these great examples of what healthy, supportive relationships look like. I also love the character of Charlie because she’s such an awesome friend to Aster and Ariel. She’s always there, even when things get hard. I really hope to see more books in the series.
