It’s giving the Wish version of The Witcher? It’s giving no chemistry? It’s giving stale? It’s giving grammatically incorrect? I’m sorry, but this was bad :( I think the ideas are great, but it unfortunately all fell so so flat for me.

Such an easy choice for favourite of the month. This one
100% met the hype for me. I loved the introduction to this world, these characters and story. I’m super excited to
see how the rest of the series plays out. Wilder has even bumped himself up pretty high in the book boyfriend list

I was beyond pleasantly surprised by this book! When I started reading I honestly didn’t expect much, as the plot seemed to promise to be similar to a lot of other books I have read. But I immediately got hooked on the story, especially since I really enjoyed the writing style. The FMC is one force to be reckoned with and I loved that so much! She really knows what she wants and is willing to give everything for it. Even though this was repeated quite often in the book (that becoming a warrior is her dream) it wasn’t annoying as it just underlined how important it was to the FMC. As for the MMC, I have mixed feelings. It felt like his broodiness and his not wanting to help others become warriors was just a trope to make the love story more interesting and tense, but since his tempers weren’t consistent and he (much too soon in my opinion) was suddenly gentle and kind it just kinda gave an off vibe of his character. Nothing seemed to be consistent, much less understandable. I felt like there was no actual reason behind his behavior in the beginning which just made it weird. Also, his feelings for the FMC grew much too fast for them having had such little contract. I get that he was fascinated by her but no way somebody falls that hard that fast? Idk, seemed kinda hard to believe.
Also, the ending was very rushed and a lot of things were happening so fast there was no good explanation as to why they happened. >spoiler< For example, the Guild Master completely ignoring the fact that there was a shadow wrath in the forest and instead only focusing on Thea and that she had to be Wilders responsibility. Who cares wether he believed Thea was the one who slayed the wrath, she still had a token and deserved his respect. It felt like the author just needed a reason as to why Thea had to become wilders apprentice. >spoiler<
But besides that I really really liked the book and am excited for the next one!
