WOW. My first attempt at reading fantasy after several years and I devoured this book. Very gruesome, but captivating. I’m looking forward to finding out whether the next books in these series are even better. One thing which bothered me was the riddle with an (imo) obvious answer. Might have saved many injuries and lives…

I love this series. Feyre has flaws and skills, she is emotionally rounded, and she is consistent. The annoying chapters all center around her flaws, and as she begins to fight them, the book continuously gets better. (I read the last 250ish pages in one day, versus 3-4 days trying to fight through the first 150ish.)

The world, the story, the cast of characters; I'm completely hooked. Everyone has layers, everything has a reason. Without them, I don't know if I could have finished the book. In fact, I think the lack of Tamlin in the last nearly 200 pages may have been why the book went so much better for that part.

Tamlin is a male lead I feel like we're meant to like enough, but not love. The ways Lucien and Rhysand are described and characterized make them much more likable and interesting; the most interesting thing about Tamlin is his mask and position. (Yes, he's kind and not human-hating, but that's a decently low bar for a romantic lead.)

I'm not sure how they could break up after the whole massive tournament of love, but if they stay together, I hope his new heart gives him a new personality.
