By the end of the book I had certainly become invested in Saturna, her family, and her potential journey. The characters are rich and personable, and although the worldly descriptions are a little lacking for my taste, there is substantial worldbuilding to highlight infinite diversity. The sequel is titled "Saturna's Quest," which I have yet to read.
