Excellent concept, poorly executed. The writing was bland, and we were being told everything, rather than shown it. Perhaps it’s just not my humour style, but it wasn’t funny in the slightest.

Fun coming-of-age story. It's a mystery, but it felt like a heist. Loved the characters.

Some definite pacing issues. 200 pages in I still wasn’t sure if I liked it, but it picked up after that, and I really enjoyed the rest. At least half a star is for the Thatcher bashing.

One of those stories that was moving at a clip until it wasn't, the chase with the old was too long or the bit with the scarecrow was unnecessary. Too much stuff in those back ten chapters when I just wanted the mystery to wrap up instead of more world building. Keen to hear more from these weirdos though, looking forward to more magical shenanigans.

This was not my thing. It wasn’t bad but I didn’t love it. I just kept reading so I could finish it.
