3.5 stars. Didn't care much about the plot, but quite liked the writing.

It was a quick read despite the majority of the characters (except for the children) being wholly unlikeable. They whole story had a lot of details but lacked any depth, perhaps the characters were just meant to be that vapid.

Sons and Daughters of Ease and Plenty by Ramona Ausubel, published on June 14 by Riverhead Books, started off with a bang; as my friend and fellow book lover Sarah's Book Shelves says, there's nothing quite as good as an excellent read on "wealthy people behaving badly." I had really high hopes for this one, and highlighted a gagillion passages in the first half...and then the excitement sort of fizzled away. I still gave it four stars, but it kind of let me down.

loved it. this is a gorgeously crafted story about money and love and race and privilege and family and motherhood and self. it’s a stunning social commentary. the prose is beautiful. it slowed my reading down — i wanted to savor the language. it’s my most highlighted (e)book by far. the tone throughout the book is captivating. the characters are annoying, but intentionally and thoughtfully so. i totally get that this book is hit or miss, and i can almost understand why, but i really, really loved it.

Made it maybe a third of the way through, but DNF. So bored.

I couldn't relate to the characters and had a hard time understanding them. I kept waiting for something to happen to enhance the book, but it never did.

it took me a long time to care about the adult characters in this novel, and even longer to have any sympathy. that being said, the prose was a bit over thought at times, and lacking in detail.

Estoy tratando de no calificar mal el libro en si solo porque los protagonistas son horribles, pero creo que la falta de conciencia de clase en el libro es más generalizada.
