This is my first work of Edwidge Danticat’s and I absolutely loved it. The stories caused you to reflect on so many aspects of life and the himan condition and in several cases against the background of the Haitian Diaspora. Beautiful collection of short stories.

I'd put Edwidge Danticat in the same category as Alice Munro, Edward P. Jones, Jhumpa Lahiri, and William Trevor. Her writing is character-driven, emotional, specific, solid, classic. I highly, highly recommend this collection. The final story, "Without Inspection," is especially stunning. I'll be going back to this collection again and again.

Every short story in this collection depicts a different tragedy, struggle and loss. Most of the characters were forgettable. "Sunrise, Sunset" and "Seven Stories" were the only ones I really liked.

Edwidge Danticat is such an exquisite writer and I'm yet to read anything of hers that doesn't leave me yearning for more.

I really liked it

This is my first book by this author but not my last. These were simple stories and yet they drew me right in. I was lost in each and every one of them.
