Pretty darn good. I liked it! If your suffering from a book hangover after reading FSOG, this trilogy is a pretty good backup.

mix feelings i think for the most part this is readable.. follows the rules over all.. it even one ups the rules by not having a crazy ex girlfriend which does get old after awhile. at the same time.. i wouldnt reread this.. the sex gets hotter over all but the start of the book was so uncomfortable for me. so much bad disconnected sex in this book and not the good kind.

so mix feelings

I liked this much much much better than 50 Shades. MUCH BETTER.

Time and time again. I always remind everyone that I'm not an Adult/Erotica reader. Much less a BDSM one. I'm more of a Young Adult/New Adult reader. But I just wanted to read some contemporary today and I saw the second book up for ARC request. So I just looked at the first book and just told myself, "Sure, why not?" LOL.

Well, this one book is surprisingly good. BDSM removed, the lines is good, some witty remarks are good. Made me laugh or smirk. I enjoyed reading it. Of course there're lots of smut going on. Riding crop, spanking, plugs (shuddered at this one)... are always there.. The main plot or climax of the story is okay-ish. That's what I don't like. If they could just explain each other well... Hmmm... oh well.

I think that'll be always the plot. Misunderstanding and all that. But yeah, I enjoyed reading it to the point I read it for just 6 hours. And yes, that's quite fast for me cause nowadays, I barely got enough time to read. And this is the first book in weeks that kept me reading non-stop.

this was a very interesting read I enjoyed it glad i could get so many different authors in this years challenge

Initially this tale of sex and romance had me intrigued. The cold exterior of Nathaniel, the dom, and Abigail's willingness to follow his every wish is typical of the novels genre. Nevertheless, as someone who isn't really into that stuff, but more interested in the romance side of things, I still found the scenes very well written and not too confronting. The explicit sex scenes between the dom and sub are exotic but not hardcore. Tara Sue Me has maintained a nice balance, to display the dynamic relationship involved between a Dom and Sub, whilst still making it appealing to an audience not typically familiar with it. For me, I started to really enjoy this tale of a confused love when Nathaniel (the dom) and Abigail (the sub) start to interact with one another more, without sex having to be an element. The playful banter between Abigail and Nathaniel is endearing and did at times make me laugh out loud. The scene of Abigail throwing snowballs to Nathaniel's dog, and them then crumbling upon contact with the ground is a sweet touch and perhaps one of my favourite moments within the book. The major issue I had with 'The Submissive', was at times the story would throw in elements which didn't seem to really fit in or were rather unrealistic. Such as Nathaniel and Abigail's past connections. I understand these elements were put in place to illustrate how their love was always meant to be, but I feel like the two examples of their distant knowing of one another left me with a bad taste in my mouth. I cannot put my finger on in, but I really didn't like these inclusions in the tale. Furthermore, the scene at the engagement party and their meeting thereafter really annoyed me. Nathaniel is a Dom, yet in both these scenes he is portrayed rather weak in demeanour. Yes, the author was trying to show he was lost without Abigail and he would change to get her back, but this doesn't mean Nathaniel had to be shown as weak and pathetic, as harsh as that may sound. The novel ends nicely however, as a real connection between the two is established and the sex still as hot as ever.

Somewhere on this book someone said "You'll think fifty what of what?" So I was intrigued. All I could think was, "Wait, where's Christian and when did the girl get a name change?" This book is so similar to Fifty Shades of Gray that if you read that, you could pass on this series. That being said, there's something about reading about this type of lifestyle that's kinda hot. I liked that the entire book wasn't sex scenes and that there were two stories going on. While the characters weren't as likable as E.L. James' characters, they didn't annoy me and make me wish a train would hit them. I'm going to continue reading the series for a few reasons a)they are quick reads b)I want to see how the characters emerge and develop and what happens to them c)this type of book gets my mind off everyday stress and with the holidays, I need it.

Too rushed. Too predictable. Too, too... Can't seem to find the right word. Sometimes you see a stroke of brilliance, but then they go in a direction that you're like, ugh, why????
