Oh my god, it’s doneeeee. It took me 3 MONTHS to read this book? Why? How?
PRIME DECEPTIONS is the follow-up to a book I really, really enjoyed: CHILLING EFFECT. But where I found CHILLING EFFECT fast-paced, PRIME DECEPTIONS hit some … rough terrain.
I enjoyed the first and last parts of this novel, but the middle is what got me stuck for the aforementioned 3 months. When Eva and the crew go to Garilia, the pacing just began to drag in comparison to the rest of the novel. I mean, half the plot does revolve around this whole planet but … it just felt like they were there forever, so it was … very hard to make it out the other side. I may have cheered out loud when they finally got off-planet.
I still really enjoyed the characters, dialogue, and most of the book, but I can’t give this as good of a rating as its predecessor when it took me so long to finish.
3.5 out of 5 Stars.

This one wasn’t quite as good as the first and the main plot driving force seemed a little light and was anticlimactic. It did seem to setup well for the third which I am hopeful for. Still was an enjoyable read and was an expansive universe. Looking forward to the final of the trilogy.

A fun scifi romp that could use some editing to cut down on the repetitive plot restatements and naval gazing.

An improvement on the first installment, with actual growth for the main character. Also shenanigans, con going, an unofficial history of the Pokémon, and an intro to Transformers.
