Mixed feelings on this one. I found the discussions on ethics to be interesting & something I had been thinking about for a few books. But at times the way the kids spoke to each other was strangely hostile & felt almost out of character? Going into this series I knew some books were ghostwritten and I thought for sure this must be one of them because of the way the children interacted

The skunk book. I’m still not sure what “the secret” is referring to? More about trying to apply human ethics to nature/wild animals. Docked points because Cassie was mean to Tobias :(

I'm developing a blurb to stick at the front of each of these reviews. What I've got so far is as follows:
I have in recent years found myself unable to read for pleasure at a sustained and fully focused level. The Phone and short form content in general have cooked both my attention span and ability to engage with mediums that ask things of my brain. As a way of rebuilding this plasticity from the ground up I've turned to reading low level light popcorn fare that I can blow through in a short amount of time, with the intent of walking up the weight level, like mental lifting. While these aren't going to be exclusively YA books (in fact this stage should be the only part that is), I've decided to kick this off with a full re-read of the Animorphs series by K.A. Applegate (and also her husband and a series of ghost writers in the middle bit there). Which I still believe is worth reading for anyone interested in scifi or complex moral situations.
Part 9
Another middle of the road entry. Playing with some really interesting ideas around the core moral questions Applegate (and company) are posing [their] young readers, but in such a clumsy manner as to kind of undercut the message. It is a great example of the fact that all these characters are children though, something many of these books have a tendency to make you forget. All in all a solid entry, always love getting Cassie's voice.
