I DEVOUERED this book. In my opinion, the perfect sci-fi read. Clear, concise, and I could not put it down. Incredibly thought-provoking and really rather realistic in a post-COVID world, but also quite beautiful and poetic. This isn't your typical sci-fi, but rather a unique take on the potential future of humanity and how that future could very well help shape the past. Highly recommend!

I found this book to be an enchanting meditation on existence and the status of the world. The mystery’s answer is a bit obvious but I can’t be bothered to care because of how enjoyable and engaging I found the writing. Even though this book does not take on the most relaxing of topics (pandemics figure prominently), it was somewhat validating to finally read a work of fiction that recognizes what we all went through a few years ago. (And, rest assured, there’s a content & settled ever after.) I am delighted that there’s another book set in this universe. I was captivated by Mandel’s writing style: sparse, but not spartan, and solid.
