Funny but makes being old sound totally awful. I almost regret reading it, and I simply don't want to wear a bikini every day until I'm 34, so the life advice wasn't very helpful either.

Oh Nora. It's hard to imagine that there will be no more sparkling wit and quirky characters, or pained funny truths of life transmitted from your brain to paper. This makes me sad. And yet.

Here's why I love you Nora.

"I was married to him for two years and eight months. I fly to New York to see my shrink. I walk into her office and burst into tears. I tell her what my husband has done to me. I tell her my heart is broken. I tell her I'm a total mess and I will never be the same. I can't stop crying. She looks at me and says, ' you have to understand something: you were going to leave him eventually.' "

Nora Ephron was a rare gem of brilliance and it's bittersweet that the coda of this book, written a few years back, laments the friends lost to the encroaching shadow of death. She had no idea, which is in line with one of her wonderful quotables on page 124: "you never know"

My other favorite quote is "you can order more than one dessert." Jeez, she was brilliant. I think I will go have an extra dessert. And maybe apply some firming neck cream, seeing as how I have only a few more years to enjoy a nice firm neck before it turns into a (insert crass description of a neck with loosely hanging skin resembling a woman's nethers).

DNF... Am I broken? Everyone loves Nora. I thought I would too.
