I’m so surprised this has such a high rating! This was fine? The definition of just okay…
I was super excited to read this, my first from the author, but I was kinda of disappointed in the end.

I didn’t love this, the writing is fine, I thought it was cute just wasn’t developed enough in certain ways. I think a lot is going on in the story, especially with Liz. She really, really needs therapy and grief counselling and it bothers me that her dad and stepmom never did that?
I didn’t find any character except Wes super likeable. I wouldn’t even say Wes and Liz were enemies, just childhood kind of friends who were annoyed with each other? That ends really quickly, and it blows my mind how Liz, despite being so into romcoms, doesn’t see how Wes feels about her.
I think Liz wasn’t the best FMC, the lying was just too much and so unnecessary, it’s good in a sense that she acknowledges how shitty she’s being a lot of the time, but then continues to do it?
Joss was awful, such a bad friend and so judgemental, but so was Liz! Her Dad has a very I don’t care attitude which sucks, and her stepmom just needed some open conversations.
I absolutely hated the smoking, just such an unnecessary add, especially in today’s day and age.
Yea, I just don’t know, Liz is supposed to be a quirky character, I think that her love of rom coms gets muddled in with the rest of the story.
The only part of this I actually enjoyed was her and Wes, they had a sweet connection.
I don’t know if I’d ever read another but we’ll see!

My favorite trope of “he’s always been in love with her”! He literally says “she isn’t you” and proceeds to tell her that her face is sunshine. Swoon.
