It is clear why this is a classic. A delightful tale of childhood in the mid 1800s. Some troubling language, but true to the time period.

Took me a while to finish this short little thing; have been super busy at work…
Surprisingly I never read this growing up (Huck Finn is next). It’s one of those books where it’s meant for children, but there’s lessons for everyone. It also has a very tidy ending.
In general, it does a great job of getting the reader absorbed into setting, and transferring emotions from the boys to the reader. In fact, I would go so far as to say it does what it sets out to do perfectly. In other words, Twain wrote a perfect book that only HE could write. I know that’s high praise, but I really don’t have any criticisms. Now, is it the most gripping subject matter ever like the psychological grippings of Crime & Punishment? Well, no. But like I said above, Twain wrote exactly what he set out to do.
Looking forward to Huck Finn next
