Warning: M/F/F

I wanted to give this 4 stars. I put this review off. Now don't get my wrong, I like the book and the writing was great.

I'm a sucker for enemies to lovers. Like a damn sucker.

Now for what I did like, I love the back and forth, some would complain that there was a lot, which is true, but again I expect that with enemies to lovers. It was sexy, and as I stated before the writing was great.

Eric was a little inconsistent. It's hard to explain, when the book begin, I didn't see any indication of who he would be by the middle of the book. I like both versions, but what I didn't like was that there were 2 different Eric's LOL see its hard to explain.

Brie, she is the reason this book got 3 stars, she was immature. Which is understandable because she has worked her ass of to be a gymnast and she hasn't had much experience. It was the obsession that really got me. Pet peeve obsessed women.

Now don't shy away, this is hot read.

If your hard limits are a girl who is a little obsessed and the warning mentioned above. Then I would say don't read it.

If you can look past those things, it is a good read.

This book had similar issues to book one. I find it really hard to lose myself in the Rio Olympics in a contemporary with no reference to prominent people who competed there, especially with MCs IN THAT SPORT. I'm sure it's for legality reasons but also it makes it very difficult to be like yeah this is Rio.

The Summer Games: Out of Bounds is the second book in R.S. Grey's series centering around the Rio Olympics. It reads as a complete standalone as the characters from Settling the Score aren't featured in Out of Bounds.

Here's what we've got:
Forbidden romance: coach and athlete
Age gap: 29 and 20
Angst level: almost painful
Hotness: hottest book I've read this summer

Brie Watson is a first time Olympic gymnast. She's a bit older than her peers but she's going in with the best chances of winning gold. With a month left before the games, she learns that her coach had to back out and she's got to relocate to Seattle to train with Erik Winter.

"He was a sweet poison and I was so addicted."

Erik Winter was an amazing gymnast but fell out of the spotlight and is running his own gym out of Seattle. He's the first-time coach of Team USA and is determined to bring the gold back to the states.

"I was her coach and she was my gymnast. I was the predator and she was the victim. I smiled at the thought."

Ok. I love a good coach/athlete romance. Love it! R.S. Grey did it with Scoring Wilder and that's one of my favorite sports romance reads. Out of Bounds does not disappoint. The hate is hateful and the love is sweet.

Erik is mean. There, I said it. He's mean and hurtful and I wanted to punch him in the nuts a few times. But when he's sweet, you just want to swoon. Brie is fiery and fierce but she's got a hard time letting go giving into her feelings.

The level of angst was so high it was almost hard to read at times. I felt for both characters but wanted to scream at them at the same time to get over it and get together already! Honestly. Just do it and love each other and live your happily ever after. I kind of felt the end was just a bit too quick. I would have liked a bit more of a relationship out of Erik and Brie. Other than that, I adored Out of Bounds! Grey does sports and comedy so well and they shine in this book. Oh. Just a heads up: at 52% there's one of the hottest scenes I've ever read. EVER. I wasn't expecting that out of you, Rachel! Go girl!

While I generally enjoy RS Grey's books for a light read - found this book a lot more sexier? steamier? than the others. 4/5 stars for me!

Grab a spotter, tape-up your damaged bits and prepare your heart and mind for a WILD ride! The Summer Games: Out of Bounds is one wild and crazy adventure!

Brie and Erik are like oil and water, but only if oil and water virtually exploded from sexual tension. Maybe it's not so much oil and water, but oil and vinegar....on the surface you wouldn't think they work, but if you shake things up just enough, you find they're the perfect compliment to one another. Erik and Brie are that perfect combo that work so much better together than apart. But, it is almost painful getting to the final blend.

Out of Bounds delivers an emotional punch. The angst, tension and back and forth are anxiety inducing. There were times that I wanted to slap both Erik and Brie. They're damaged souls in a high pressure arena, struggling to identify their feelings and work through an attraction and pull that a Coach probably shouldn't have for his Star Athlete!

Out of Bounds is not the light and breezy fare that R.S. Grey does so well. It is SUPER steamy, (there's one Yoga scene that will knock your socks off) and more erotic than her other books. But, the great story lines, interesting characters and witty banter that you expect are all still there. Be prepared for an emotional workout, but be sure to vault this book to the top of your to be read list!

This book received a 4.5 rating on the BFF Book Blog. BFF Book Blog also uses a set of iccon ratings. This book received additional ratings for the following: angst, romance, steamy, supporting characters and tension.

I didn't like Erik most of the time. His character development felt kind of sudden at the end.
