I really enjoyed this, despite it not being my usual genre. In a comparison without any malice (I know it's not always people's favourite book!), it actually really reminded me of The Da Vinci Code, in plot and themes- the similar taking of a real-world concept and twisting it into a new form. I really liked that about this, particularly as I love a good conspiracy theory! I'm not usually one for trilogies, but I think I'm going to have to commit to seeing how this one unfolds. Also, some incredible descriptions of place, that made me really want to visit Istanbul and revisit Paris!
I didn't expect to love this book as much as I did. When is the next one out because I need more ASAP. I love stellan so much, I want to know more about him and his backstory. I find jack boring as hell tbh. The whole avery/jack thing is too instalove and i'm not feeling it. (do they even like each other?? he keeps lying to her??? idk)

Ah, another teen book falling prey to the curse of a love triangle…
Don’t let that fool you!
The Conspiracy of Us was nowhere near what I was expecting. I was expecting a prom queen coming down with symptoms of magic. This was definitely not that. This is an adventure spanning the world.

2.5/5
Eh bah bof hein.

This was extremely hard to finish after I got 3/4 through. Avery is a very dull and boring, flat character. Jack is an appallingly unattractive and dull love interest. The entire plot became just a little too on the nose somewhere in this ball scene.
Three stars for clear writing and compelling storytelling, though.

I was excited to receive a copy of this book from Indigo Head Office, in exchange for an honest review.
This book started off like a predictable and terrible cliche. It seemed like Maggie Hall had an idea of where she wanted the story to go, and she didn't take her time to get there in the beginning, she just rushed it. However, a few chapters in, the story did pick up, and it became like National Treasure of Da Vinci Code for teenage audiences. The conspiracy theories seemed decently well thought out, and it was pretty fun to see them following the clues. It started out like a tired cliche, but then turned into a pretty interesting teen drama. I kind of wish it wasn't a series, I think Maggie Hall could have added a bit of length and wrapped it up nicely into a great stand-alone. I will probably read the next book to see what happens next. I hope it keeps getting further and further away from teenage cliches, and developing into what it's shaping into.

This book starts with a bang. Some books are slow to start because there is a lot of world building. I suppose because this is a type of contemporary w/ alternative elements there wasn't a lot of need for that.
This story. Is fast paced and intriguing. I liked the characters and the alternative elements. Maybe it has elements of urban fantasy. There is a secret group and myths associated with Alexander the Great and Achilles.
I flew through this book in on sitting and was grateful I had the sequel at my fingertips.

3 stars. What a fun start to the series. It was action packed and adventurous and unique. The characters leave a lot to be desired but I didn’t dislike them in the slightest. Avery wasn’t annoying and I can see where she could go through some good character development. Jack was fine but I feel like I learned nothing about him. Stellan was the most interesting of the three but that’s only because I like jackass characters like him. The ending was great and ends on a crazy cliffhanger and I’m very interested to continue on with the series. I feel like it’s going to get better from here.
