Mediocre fluff turned aggerivating when the book just ends like the cliffhanger in a two-part TV show with no resolution whatsoever.
Exciting and fun, loved the characters. Jack is cute, gives me good vibes, Avery is annoying but i don't hate her
I was very much intrigued by the idea of YA Da Vinci Code, and I'm actually really glad that this book delivered on that! I definitely liked it, but I didn't love it. Don't get me wrong, it's a fun book, and if you're into conspiracies, especially one where you have a secret group controlling everything, this is the book for you.
There's definitely a lot of action, but everything we learn about this secret group and the prophecy aren't sticking with me. There are quite a few details throughout the book, and other than connections to the Circle throughout history, nothing really stands out, and it hasn't even been that long since I've read it. I think I may need to re-read it again to refresh my memory, but I still am looking forward to reading the next one because I'm really curious about the different interpretations of the prophecy and they're still sort of right about everything going on.
Rating: 3 stars. I didn't love it, but I did like it, and it's action-packed and fast-paced- I just wish the details stuck with me more!

This was like fine. Interesting plot idea but could be advanced a bit faster
1. I can see this book making an entertaining movie. (Dan Brown for the younger crowd?)
2. Uh, this better have a sequel because it came to a dead stop with no resolution.

I have to agree with the comparisons to The DaVinci Code, but not in a good way. This story was full of cliches. It was also quite predictable. At times Avery could be very capable. At others, she was "too stupid to live." It could have been a lot of fun. But it never got beyond predictability and teenage angst. Still, there must have been something, because if I were handed the sequel now, I'd read it - not because I care about Avery, or Jack, but I'm curious about Stellan and where the story will go next.
Spoiler
The scene with Jack in her room near the end had me yelling at my car steroid (audiobook) to please just move on already. Nope, in this case they were both TSTL. Sigh.
Eh.
Like...it was fine? I'd probably give it 2.5 stars. The thing I liked the most about it was probably that I had been to all of the places she was writing about -- the Hagia Sophia, Notre Dame, the Louvre. So that was nice. Really gave me good visuals.
The rest of it was pretty run of the mill, and didn't really make much sense.
I will say, however, that the writing was not atrocious. I liked the fast-paced nature of the story. And obviously the foreign destinations -- Istanbul is a particular favorite of mine, and I think of my time there very very fondly, so it was nice to relive that in a book. And I think a lot of elements here will appeal to younger, less jaded readers. It did compel me enough that I'd read the rest of the series though. So, job accomplished, I guess?

If you're going to rewrite history, at least make it make sense. Alexander the Great's tomb??? Ugh. I've read the adult version of this and it was called the Da Vinci Code. It also included boring, wooden characters. Jack and Avery's sudden and passionate love was pretty dull. Everyone in the world is white, at least the main characters at least. Blah blah blah boring.I will say, however, that the writing was not atrocious. I liked the fast-paced nature of the story. 3.5 stars. Entertaining, fast paced adventure. Felt like I was listening to a young adult version of the Davinci Code. Can't wait to read the next book!
