This is a cute, f/f twist on the classic cheerleader/quarterback romance. I'm not sure if I would strictly call it a romcom even though there are some funny moments because the premise is a little more serious: Jack only becomes the quarterback because the school's first string QB dies in a car accident, and both Amber and Jack struggle with homophobia at school. The dual POV, single timeline here worked between than the single POV, dual timeline of Cool For the Summer, at least for me personally. Both Jack and Amber are flawed yet sympathetic, and I enjoyed getting to see a lot of secondary character Miguel and Malcolm as well. The sports scenes don't require any special knowledge to understand so this will definitely be accessible to non-athletes as well.
