Yo creo que por el momento me sobresature al estar leyendo cómics únicamente de Batman. Supongo que retomaré Batman hush dentro de un par  de meses. Esto debido a lo que nesesito es probar leer variedad de cómics no únicamente de Batman.

15th Anniversary Deluxe Edition = annotated.

I'll come back to that later.

What. A. STORY.

SO many favorite characters! So many characters I've heard of and not really interacted with or seen on the page before. Tommy broke my heart. Harley and Joker. Ivy. Huntress. The Robins. Barbara and Jim and Harvey. AGGGGHHHH.

Art-wise, the perfectly round asses and exploitative poses left a bit to be desired, but I'm a woman in 2022 and I'm picky that way. The watercolor/sketch work in the flashbacks and chapter headers was PHENOMENAL.

Hush joins the list of my favorite Batman stories. Jim Lee's illustrations are beautiful—huge, sprawling, detailed panels, vibrantly colored by Alex Sinclair. These are some of the most fantastic Batman images I've seen. Jeph Loeb gives these visuals a story that is intriguing and mysterious. Batman here is primarily a detective, tracking down an unknown villain, someone with the power to manipulate many of Batman's usual foes. He relies on assistance from Barbara/Oracle, and I wish she had been a bigger part of the story. (Alfred is also occasionally present, but with no big role to play.)

In the midst of his detective work, Batman engages in all-out brawls with the Joker and others, including Superman. The Superman fight is entertaining but doesn't quite make sense to me. It hinges on Batman's assurance that Superman will never let anyone die, whereas Batman will. But within this story, it seems like Batman's moral base is not so different from Superman's.

The other intriguing complication in this story is Batman's romance with Catwoman. I liked that aspect a lot, as Bruce/Batman has to decide how much to trust Selina/Catwoman, how much of his life to let her be a part of. I like Catwoman's independence and her tenacity in standing up to Batman. She's such a great character in this story: confident, strong, supportive, loving. Because of that, I found the conclusion of their story disappointing. It's inevitable, of course, but come on: what more can Bruce hope for in life than a woman like that?

The problem that all of my favorite Batman stories share is that a really intriguing setup is hard to resolve satisfactorily. That's true here, too. I felt that once
SpoilerHarvey Dent
showed up, the story somehow lost its focus and careened onward to the finish. The reveal of Hush's identity, and the final conversation in Arkham . . . it just wasn't quite perfect after all that fantastic build-up.

Still, however, this is a beautiful book full of classic Batman moments.

i wish i could go back in time & tell myself to start here when i wanted to get into batman comics. it serves as an excellent introduction to batman, his allies & the rag tag of villains gotham has to offer. but those explanations can make the story feel a little watered down at times if you are familiar with the universe

also it was refreshing to see a slightly more emotionally mature bruce for once, especially jumping into this right after the murderer/fugitive storyline

i just wish the ending had been a little more impactful, it feels like it ends too early. this story definitely suffers from doing a bit too much telling rather than showing. but nonetheless it was a fun read! absolutely up there as one of my favourite batman reads yet on my journey to read them all

A fantastic engaging read with wonderful artwork to accompany the story. Delves into Batman‘s past, and why he acts the way he does, a fascinating read, and action packed.
