Amazing, especially the last 100 pages. I couldn't put it away! The illustrations too, just wow. Amazing horror dystopia!!

Disturbing, gory, gruesome. This was a perfect read for book club because each chapter was more disturbing than the last and we all needed to check-in with each other, like, did I just see what I saw 😵‍💫

The body horror in this was extremely disturbing and I would proceed with caution while reading. We ended up reading 5 chapters/week, which was good because I needed that space to process each section.

Overall, another 5⭐️ winner from Junji Ito. I thought there was an interesting combination of cosmic horror and socio-political commentary. And each chapter packed a punch! I will not be the same after reading this one—the spirals will haunt me.

I'll never feel the same about spirals ever again. I'm disturbed, disgusted, traumatised, yet I'd re-read all this in a heartbeat. This was unlike anything I've ever read, even the previous works of Ito were not as good, because as talented as he is at writing short stories, nothing beats an epic of 650 pages! Wow. Just wow.

If you get scared easily then you don’t need to read this but I HIGHLY recommend that everyone read it. It’s funny and silly but also really dark and sometimes disturbing. The perfect book for October.

This was just incredible. I loved the way that the art style went from straight lines and as the characters devolved into insanity, there was way more curvature until everything was a spiral. The way that those artistic elements played into the plot was just masterful

Okay, this one is *much* better than Deserter. Don't get me wrong, Deserter wasn't bad; a lot of the stories on there were amazing, but the overall book wasn't at the expectations that I had. Uzumaki, however.

Uzumaki was beautifully done. The artwork is truly phenomenal; the character's facial expressions were so well done, very lifelike. Also, the story itself was very interesting. I wasn't Quite sure what was happening until the very end. I loved Shuichi, and the love between him and the FMC was so pure. Even the side character's stories were amazing.

The only gripe I have is with the FMC. Why on Earth would she stay in the town? Why wouldn't she insist on her family leaving with Shuichi when she had the chance? Maybe it wasn't very practical, but you know. Other than that, I'm excited to read more of Ito's work. <3
