Vanity, Corruption, Deceit and Murder Most Foul... with just a dash of Romantic Tragedy thrown into the mix.
Being old doesn't make this book a classic; being an eternally relevant story does. Despite some moments of lengthy, drawn-out prose, the message of this book speaks to readers of this generation perhaps more than ever. In our superficial, celebrity-obsessed culture, who can't relate to Dorian Gray? Who doesn't wish for everlasting youth and beauty?
The problem with living each day as if it's your last is that tomorrow still comes and you have to face the consequences of your actions. That kind of behaviour takes it's toll on a person. This book asks the question : But what if it didn't? How far would you go if you had the chance?
