Wonderful but gotta doc her for the racism. Was it consistent with the time? Yeah. Are there other things we could compare to the color yellow….. yeah.

I've read this in two days and while I like the first half more than the second half, it's overall just a very good book. Heartbreaking to think about Sylvia really feeling this way, and heartbreaking that this was her only novel. I think the reason why this is such a classic and simply timeless is because to some extent very relatable for a lot of people. I'm also very surprised how well it handles the topic of mental illness.

The writing in this book reminds me of the queens gambit. It’s more of a biography and a journey towards a goal. One of my only negatives about this book is that so much is happening with so many characters that I wasn’t entirely sure as to what was going on. However, I found that the bell jar was wonderfully written and really highlights the darker parts of life.

This book has gotten better and better as more time has passed from me reading it.
