One of my favourite books, which I've read multiple times and will continue to enjoy for many years. This story tells of a poor man, desperate and without hope, until enters a mysterious prince and a letter claiming he's inherited millions. Not knowing what to do with all that money, the prince offers to help him live as hedonistic life as possible, and the man accepts. And so the descent into sinfulness begins.
In contrast to all the rich, selfish people in the books, is a woman, an author, content with little and a woman devoted to God. It is said that Marie Corelli wanted to depict herself as pure and for readers to consider this woman to be a characterised version of herself.
Overall, this book is gripping, with a strong and poignant Christian message. I love it and would highly recommend.
