This ended up being a funny, hilarious library read. Ms. Nguyễn manages to both capture the hellish microcosm of internet celebrity, being trans, and the rancid folks you find on the internet who can sometimes get obsessed with you. Great read, highly recommended.

It was really interesting the way the author added the dialogue on social media into the text as a way to move the plot along. Also if was thought provoking the way that the characters’ social media presence and fame was almost another character throughout the text.

This was an interesting read. I liked the commentary and it was humorous in a way that I enjoyed and didn't hate. I think the book could have been edited a bit tighter and also, like, I got used to there not being quotations used for speech but I never liked it. I think there was a point for the comments and outside voices not having quotes and being formatted like paragraphs instead of like a social media feed (it added to the cacophony of voices I'm sure get to be A Lot on social media and displayed that well) but it was exhausting to read. Definitely the point! But it made it an unfun read in that aspect. The dialogue between the main characters was very superficial and basic and I'm not sure if it was meant to be read that way but it felt... Extremely Online (so maybe it was meant to be that way!) and not like how people talk irl. I just couldn't get out of my head that I was reading A Book that was Making Comments about real societal issues. And that's just never my favorite read. My favorite parts were the volleyball bits! I wish there was more of the games in it!
