Very informative book about Japan's involvement in medical experimentation in China during the Sino-Japanese war and World War Two. While not graphic in it's portrayal of the experiments, details of the horrors the Japanese Army inflicted on its prisoners is not for those of weak stomachs.

This book was given to me as a gift, and I was glad to get it. I, unfortunately, did not learn much about Unit 731 and Japanese experimentation while I was in school for my history degree. I have read vast amounts of things about the Nazi experiments, and this was only briefly mentioned as an aside. There were some truly horrendous experiments perpetrated on people, which this book delves into. It wasn't as long or as detailed as some of the books that I read about the Nazi aspect, but it was informative. I would like to find some more books about Unit 731.

An insightful read into one of the most secretive unit of the Imperial Japanese Army -- Unit 731. The anecdotes of those directly involved with its works are extremely valuable and hard to come by, giving us a glimpse into the true horrors that went on behind those closed doors.
I knew nothing of what happened during these times before reading this book and I can’t believe this isn’t spoken about more. This book is so important for informing people about what actually happened. I loved the testimonies at the end as it was so interesting to see how the individuals felt about what they did at the time vs now. I’d recommend this to anyone who needs a good old history lesson like I did. I think I’m still in a little bit of shock about what I’ve read.
