I really liked the Tarot, witchyness, and Fiona. The Housekeeper lore was also really fun. I didn't buy into the romance and thought some of it was a little over the top and too heavy-handed for my taste. I was also a little annoyed with the ending, but it was still a fun read. I'm not sure if I will continue with the series or not.

This book had a lot of potential. I picked it up after a tough read thinking that this would be lighter…lol. It’s not a light read at all and quite frankly, it’s far too long.

Maeve is totally unlikeable which makes it a drag following her perspective for 400 pages. Roe is a confusing character; I don’t get what kind of person would embark on a romance with someone who is  not only responsible for their sister being missing, but also put her through some horrible and relentless bullying after being a close family friend for years??

There were some errors I encountered (Maeve described as wearing leggings and then a page later is in jeans, accidental switch from first person to third) that supported the idea that this may have been rushed.

Really I think this needed to be heavily edited. I’m not interested in anyone aside from Fiona, and she is sadly not enough to convince me to read the rest of the series.

This was a good book to read in October even though this month isn’t Octobering the way it should be.
It was fun and a little spooky (but not really) and I’m excited to get to the next one :)

I really enjoyed the creepy vibes of this story, but I think perhaps I wasn’t the intended audience. It’s very…teenagery, which like, yeah, it’s a young adult book. But it’s also very drenched in the complexes and arrogance of the stereotypical 15-16 year old.

I enjoyed it, though! I like Maeve and her inability to express her feelings. I also liked Fiona, she was fun and made it a little more lighthearted.

I may or may not pick up the sequel.
