A wonderful book about a 12-year-old girl who realizes that she likes girls. Ya know, "like" likes. I love the way the author dealt with the subject matter in such a graceful way. And the story isn't just about Ivy coming out to her friends and family. It's also about friendship, hardship, resilience, and using art to express oneself. Highly recommended.

Cute and queer. But there was a plot point that frustrated me that I felt could have at least been dealt with slightly better or explained at the end.

Ivy is sent to live with her friend due to budgeting reasons, but it's not exactly explained to her in that manner so she feels slightly abandoned by her family. It is followed by her mother forgetting to call and the scene is just feels a little washed away as a "we're sorry we've been so busy." It would have been nice to have had it furthered in someway especially with such a vulnerable target audience.

A lovely story of a young girl finding her place in her world. A perfect book for 4th-8th grade kids. I loved getting to walk with Ivy through this formative year in her life. This book beautifully captures a very delicate age and encourages resilience and self love. This book is much needed in our world.
I encourage all queer adults or older children to read this as well. It was very cathartic to read and allow my younger self to explore comming out in a safe environment.

Don't you just love it when a book can give you so much warmth and love and how you wish you read it earlier in your younger year 😭

I feel like seeing my old self in all of Ivy's fear, doubt and anxiety. Figuring yourself out that you're not attracted in boys when you're still a kid is frightening. Coming out is frightening!!! But finally able to be true to yourself as the result is always worth it ❤️
