More like 3.5 stars.

It's very cute and adorable, but also sounds young for a college based story. Has a great set of diverse characters, which is always a huge plus!

Pretty cute!

A really standoffish, lonely girl transfers to an arts college and runs into a determined, Type A personality struggling to start a basketball team. Liv is pretty cute and clearly crushing on Charlie, the MC. The team is pretty diverse. As with a few other Boom Box books I've read, I think I would've been more interested if it was from the POV of the team members like Liv instead, but it's cute enough.

I'm not usually into the more cutesy, wholesome comics, but this was sweet.

Review is for the whole series!! Read at your own risk!!

I really liked the first two in this series!! I found the art very pretty and easy to follow and the story is solid! I really look forward to more issues and I hope my library gets them in. I loved all the representation from gay to bi to witches!

Overall, great graphic novel for fans of basketball, new college students, and questioning identities.

Suggested grade 12+.

Volume 3 was a great end to the series. I liked that everyone kinda got a chapter to themselves and they all came together in the end and won the championship. I could read another five books about them!!

There isn't much to say about this; it was cute with an adorable art style and there was a ton of diversity. The cliff-hanger definitely sets up for more drama off and on the court. I'd most certainly be interested in picking up the next volume!

Disclaimer: I was given an advance reading copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thanks to BOOM! Studios for the opportunity.

Three words to describe this graphic novel? Fun, cute and quirky!

I love how The Avant-Guards was set in a school setting with an up-and-coming basketball club. I was so happy to see queer representation, and the story was not just cute at all. From the moment I started reading, I couldn't put it down!

I'm lying if I'll say that I won't follow this graphic novel, because I really want to dive into the future volumes. I'm not a huge fan of graphic novels, but The Avant-Guards made me want to fall in love with it a little bit more.

Such a fast and perfect read for Pride!

This was so fun! I was worried I wouldn’t be into it because I’m not really into sports but it didn’t bother me at all. I love all the characters and the artwork. This ended right as it was getting juicy. I need to get my hands on the next volume!
