I really enjoyed Agnes, Edward, and Flip’s sections of this book- but I hated Novak’s section enough I mostly forgot that until I was back out and on to Flip. The other 3/4ths of the book felt like they had a certain level of emotional believability to them that I simply didn’t get out of Novak’s story.
I will give that section one thing though: there is A Scene- you probably know the one- that was SO stress inducing I got the distinct sensation of being at the top of a ladder while snuggled on my side in bed. I had to skip it; I literally could not make myself continue reading it. It didn’t fit at all with the tone or genre of the rest of the book, but it sure was terrifying to a point I have to admire because it is hard to scare me like that through text and it wholeheartedly succeeded.
Overall, a good book that confirmed for me on a very deep level that most people should not have children, lol!
