"Finlay Donovan Knocks 'Em Dead" by Elle Cosimano**

Elle Cosimano's "Finlay Donovan Knocks 'Em Dead" is an entertaining sequel that blends humor, mystery, and suburban chaos. Finlay Donovan, a single mom and crime novelist, juggles protecting her ex-husband from a hit, raising kids, and solving real-life crimes with her hilarious nanny, Vero.

Finlay is a witty and relatable protagonist, and her partnership with Vero adds heart and humor. The plot balances laugh-out-loud moments with thrilling suspense, keeping readers hooked. Cosimano's sharp writing and engaging characters make for a delightful read.

I don't understand why more people aren't talking about this series. It's a hidden gem in the mystery genre, offering a perfect mix of comedy and intrigue. Highly recommended for a fun and thrilling escape.

This book definitely still had the humor and charm the first one did, but this story felt a bit discombobulated.

Our feisty heroine jumps right back into the frying pan after the events of "FD is Killing It". This time her mission is to find out who has put out a hit on her ex-husband. He may have been a terrible husband, but he's trying to be a good father, and she really doesn't want her kids to lose their Dad. Using her wits and with the help of her best friend Vero, she follows the tangled web of clues to prevent the hit, while trying to appear like just another normal suburban Mom. Complicating her life is her agent hounding her about the deadline for her book, and two very handsome men who both want to be more than just friends with her. For good measure, she's also got the Russian Mafia snooping around, and of course another dead body she has to dispose of. It's just another day in the life of Finlay Donovan.

I like that Finlay is strong, smart, and doesn't wait around for a man to come to her rescue. There are lots of unbelievable things that happen to her but the purpose of this book is to entertain, not to be realistic. It has a very propulsive plot, and once again we are left hanging at the end of the book. Luckily the books are fast and utterly bingeable.
