i felt like the world-building was SO well-done and the systemic issues were intentionally accessible for all readers… and the characters and plot consistently fell flat. really repetitive and predictable plot devices in the second and third book.

Aahhh. I could not put this down. Action and drama packed from the start, you still are stumbling through with Zea-Mays with who can be trusted or not in this exciting book that draws this particular series to its conclusion. Just when you think this girl has been through it and might get a chance to breathe, she's thrown into yet another hurdle.
I read until the 40% mark, then skipped ahead to the 95% mark and read until the end. People were getting knocked out/shot with tranquilizers all the time. Everyone was trying to kill everyone else, collars were exploding, they were running out of faraday silk, and alliances kept shifting. There's exciting, and then there's fever-dream-y. This was fever-dream-y so I noped out.
