Graphic: Death, Body horror, Blood, Stalking, and Murder
Moderate: Torture, Gore, and Violence
Minor: Toxic friendship
The main character reminds me of the show Dexter where its main character was a sociopath himself. I think the store does a fine job taking us through John Cleaver’s emotions and tendencies he tries to suppress. Since we are reading in John’s pov certain scenes are graphic and the characters goes into deep detail about then graphics to be warnedlonelylooper's review

The first half of the book was good, love how certain aspects were put out, including the life of a typical emo boy. However, the fantasy aspect of it threw me completely off; Like how do you give a book wings and then deliberately put a tree in front of it?
Graphic: Blood and Body horror

Initially I was uncomfortable with the depiction of sociopathy, but as the story carried on and it seemed more intentional, it made more sense. I can't claim that it's good sociopathy representation, especially given the year it was published, but at the very least it seemed more sensitive than offhand comments that are still tossed around nowadays.
Honestly, I didn't expect that this series would be for me, but I'm now considering continuing, especially if I can get ahold of audiobooks.

Moderate: Body horror, Stalking, Fire/Fire injury, and Gun violence
Minor: Car accident, Death of parent, Self harm, Abandonment, and Bullying
ableism about psychotic/sociopathic disorders, both external and internal; a couple brief but detailed scenes of voyuerism; extremely detailed scenes of mortuary business/handling of corpses
