This is a beautiful book. Not conventionally beautiful, but beautiful in the way nature is beautiful. Raw. Calm. Majestic. Unsettling. This is Alan Moore and crew taking the reigns from the creators of the Swamp Thing and running wild with it.

I am coming to this much later than when it was being written. I've already read Moore's Watchmen and V for Vendetta. I've read Gaiman's The Sandman. I've read Vaughn's Y: The Last Man. So some of the groundbreaking aspects of the work are lost on me. But the beauty and horror remain.

My local comic book shop owner has called this her favorite love story of all time. We'll see what I think of it in the end. I have all 6 volumes from the library.

trippy comic goodness
Stunning artwork & writing. The Floronic Man storyline was the highlight...a captivating glimpse into the mind and philosophy of Jason Woodrue. Less successful for me was the appearance of Etrigan the Demon...I always find his rhyming speech an annoying gimmick.
Overall fun, bizarre, scary, and downright peculiar.

I haven't read anything about The Swamp Thing previously, but I do love Alan Moore so I was excited to start this. It was an amazing read! My favorite part was the autopsy, and the amount of anatomy and physiology that was given in respect to the swamp thing. Can't wait to get my hands on the next volume.

A linear climax with grand scale, this epic of Swamp Thing is more esoteric and less pulpy.
